Coaching for Lawyers Law Practice Tips

Law Practice Tip #293

December 21, 2012

Definitely arrive early for networking events

Joel Paget, Partner with Ryan Swanson, offers some additional thoughts on my Law Practice Tip #292, Plan to arrive early and leave late:

If you cannot do both, I would definitely recommend going early.  That way you can

  • meet the people who set up the event,
  • find the best place to meet those coming, and
  • be able to spot those who you want to make sure they know you are there.

My other piece of advice is to avoid talking to those you already know, including attorneys.  Say “hi” and then look for those people who are not being included.  It is amazing who you will meet and they appreciate not being left out.

What part of Joel's advice will you follow at your next networking event?
