Moving Up

When you've reached a new level in your career, what do you need to do to continue to excel? For example, you've been promoted because of past performance. How do you rise to this new level, especially as you've never done this before? To achieve the self confidence to excel:

  • Be clear of what's expected of you
  • Be in alignment with your employer's values
  • Be willing to say "I don't know"
  • Be proactive about getting training
  • Focus on your strengths – those talents that are valuable no matter what you do
  • Know your management style and it's impact
  • Have a daily routine that helps you deal with stress
  • Nurture relationships with people that can help, mentor, teach, and advise you
  • Know and manage your weaknesses
  • Find answers in books
  • Hire a coach

Of course, all of the above are also useful to help you get that promotion you want.
